A ME PIACCIONO molto i romanzi di Terry Pratchett, uno scrittore inglese di fantasy umoristico (la saga di DiscWorld è la seconda più venduta dopo quella di Harry Potter), che purtroppo tre anni fa si è ammalato di una forma piuttosto grave di Alzheimer. Adesso scopro che qualche settimana fa ha iniziato le pratiche per il suicidio assistito in Svizzera.

Sir Terry, creator of the Discworld novels, was 60 when he was diagnosed with terminal condition and has since campaigned passionately for a change in the law to allow assisted suicide in Britain.
He has complained that people who wish to undergo the procedure under the current system are forced to commit suicide earlier than necessary because they have to go to Switzerland before they are too ill to travel.

Una grande perdita, sia come uomo (ho avuto il piacere di scambiarci quattro chiacchere qualche anno fa) che come scrittore. Ha fatto sicuramente una scelta difficile, anche se non posso biasimarlo visto il tipo di malattia da cui è stato colpito.
Certo con il ritmo con cui sta pubblicando i suoi libri la Salani, noi lettori ne avremo ancora per una ventina d'anni.
