Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Michael Crichton, the best-selling author of ``Jurassic Park'' and ``The Andromeda Strain,'' died yesterday in Los Angeles ``after a courageous and private battle against cancer,'' his Web site said. He was 66.
Crichton was born in Chicago in October 1942 and graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1964 before going to Harvard Medical School. His first book, ``The Andromeda Strain,'' was published in 1969 while he was attending medical school.
Both were made into feature films. Crichton also created the hit television series ``ER.''
